Discovery in the Realms of Muscala

Far downstream, tucked beneath a hill of fern-covered stone in the dark land of Spottifar, dwelt a curious little folk called the Gio—small of stature but large of ear and heart. They were known for discovering new sounds before any other creatures in Muscala.

One such Gio, named Feromore, wandering by the riverbank, heard Saurat’s voice slip through the current and paused mid-step. The Gio smiled—soft, wondering—and listened. He loved the song and played it 25 times as an interactive digital stream.

And thus, in that quiet moment, Saurat received his very first 25 streams.

Further Streams Across the Lands

Later that day, in the beautiful land of Pandomeria, the song was streamed by a cantankerous creature of the Stonefolk guild named Dundrik. Dundrik loved his digital radio and listened to Saurat over non-interactive radio 25 times before the evening light faded in the west. Then, he set down his pickaxe and pot of captured gold for the night and fell to sleep.

Meanwhile, far west along a meandering mountain ridge, a serene and noble elven lord named Gamandrel streamed Saurat 25 times on an antique terrestrial radio from a station he had loved since the last age of the Dragonborn.

And finally, right before the fires banked low in the late evening, a princess named Prosperia streamed Saurat 25 more times from within the bustling metropolis of Yotaubian just as the clock struck midnight to end the day.

The First Day’s Triumph

Arindhel and Saurat had achieved much on this first day. Saurat was borne upon the streaming pathways. Saurat had been streamed a total of 100 times. This tale is about being buoyed along those streams—a story of high adventure and the good, the bad, and the ugly realities of the Process of the Cindrels. Strap on your seat belt.

Sir Royal T takes over from this point forward to tell the tale from a Wizard Bard’s perspective.

Chapter Key for the Apprentice: Mixing and Mastering Hall = Your Home Studio in most cases for the Do-it-Yourself musician
Chapter Key for the Apprentice:

  • interactive stream = this is a form of digital stream that a Digital Service Provider like Apple Music or Spofity provide: the subscribers on these types of platforms have control over what songs they play. This type of control is called “interactive” . This story uses Spotify. Spottifar = Spotify
  • non-interactive stream = this is a form of digital stream that a digital radio station such as Serious XM, i-Heart Radio or Pandora provide. Like a radio the listener does not have control over which exact songs/streams meet their ears at any given moment. This story use Pandora. Pandomeria = Pandora Radio
  • terrestrial radio: for you old timers; we used to listen to radio over the airwaves; think WMMR, WXPN etc. This type of airwave listening is non digital and, of course, has its own set of royalty rules.
  • Finally, to really confuse things, platforms such as Youtube and Facebook have come up with their own royalty payment methods. Yes, they are digital so why separate from the interactive stream definition? Who knows? I am sure they make more money this way. Although they are mentioned here they are more complicated and I may not get to them in this particular series. Just know that they exist as well.
  • What is the Cindrel? The Cindrel is the form of currency in the world of Muscala. We like dollars they like Cindrels
