David Husted Music

Hi everyone,

I've got something new to share: a movie-style trailer for my upcoming album, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

The nine songs on this album seem to share a certain atmosphere — cool blue, a…

The Moon
Emily Dickinson

The moon was but a chin of gold
A night or two ago,
And now she turns her perfect face
Upon the world below.

Her forehead is of amplest blond;
Her cheek like beryl stone;
Her…

“And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.”

“Thou mayest.”

I wanted to make a fall playlist.

But I didn't want to make the usual fall playlist.

I wanted to get a little outside the box — to wander beyond the familiar artists and songs and, hopefully, discover a few…

Gravity — this is on Spotify, but you can find it on any of your favorite streaming services. Give it a spin.

This is from my first album, and I can certainly hear the flaws in this early work. But…

The Tree
Ezra Pound

I stood still and was a tree amid the wood,
Knowing the truth of things unseen before;
Of Daphne and the laurel bow
And that god-feasting couple old
that grew elm-oak amid the wold.
’Twas not…

Refulgent: shining brightly; radiant or brilliantly luminous.

The refulgent light from the kitchen window woke me up.

A new song hit the 98% mark this weekend.

I’m using this blog to capture a moment in time. The song will be released, but it won’t be for several “migrations.”

What’s it called? I don’t know yet. What’s it…

Have a Good Night folks

Peace Out

"Words are events, they do things, change things. They transform both speaker and hearer; they feed energy back and forth and amplify it. They feed understanding or emotion back and forth and amplify it.”

Ursula K. Le Guin

590 Light Years Away
In the same breath they use to introduce themselves,
three men in white coats ask if I have
tingling in the privates.
One asks it while my hand is still in his.
I want to make…

Come Up for Air

This one comes from my album It Takes One Drop.

I actually started Come Up for Air on an old four-track recorder, probably sometime in the ’90s or early 2000s. I loved that thing. I squeezed…

Carrying Our Words
By Ofelia Zepeda

We travel carrying our words.
We arrive at the ocean.
With our words we are able to speak
of the sounds of thunderous waves.
We speak of how majestic it is,
of the ocean…

Crow is coming.

Next Friday, September 18, I’m releasing a new song.

I’ve been sitting with this one for a while, partly because I wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. Some songs announce themselves pretty clearly. They tell…

Agentic: Able to act independently toward a goal rather than simply waiting for a human to give it every individual instruction.

The word comes from agency — the capacity to make choices and take action.

In a sentence:

“We’ve spent…

What you say is true but when you say it, it is not true.

“St. Augustine” perhaps….. not sure

This line distinguishes between something being objectively true and the speaker's relationship to that truth. it says, in effect, that a…

I was very proud of the way this song turned out. It is probably one of my Top 10 music production creations for sure.

It is called Drawbridge. It has a slow burn build I like.Enjoy

Well………………{long, pregnant pause},{drum roll}

I have decided to release an album.

There. I said it.

This has been bouncing around in my head for a while now. I’ve gone back and forth on it more than once. In fact, I’ve…

About the lilting house and happy as the grass was green,
The night above the dingle starry,
Time let me hail and climb
Golden in…
