I created the rough draft of a song this weekend that still needs much work but I am happy enough with the outlines to fully commit and dive in. It was inspired by a song by Haim called “Everybody is Trying to Figure Me Out”. The emotive heart and guts of this song moved me. That spirit keeps me digging in even when I am weary. Thank You Haim.
My outline deviates sharply from this song's contours but it was the inspiration. It is a bit slower than my usual inclination and I kept the instrumentation minimalist despite my need to over layer music as I love playing with sound and sound design. I am probably two weeks away (or more) from working the vocals so who knows what will come out on the other side. I love this aspect of the creation process. The uncertainty of the unknown ahead.
