Quote of the Week: Virginia Woolf

“What is the meaning of life? That was all- a simple question; one that tended to close in on one with years, the great revelation had never come. The great revelation perhaps never did come. Instead, there were little daily miracles, illuminations, matches struck unexpectedly in the dark; here was one.”

Virginia Woolf

Maybe the mistake is thinking there is going to be a moment when the curtain suddenly pulls back and everything is explained. One grand answer. One flash of understanding that makes sense of all of it.

I’m beginning to think life is less generous than that.

Instead, we get fragments. A chance encounter. A strange thought that sticks with us. Something we hear or see that suddenly feels important, even though we can't quite say why.

They don't arrive with instructions. They just appear—and then they're gone.

Perhaps the trick is paying enough attention to recognize them when they do.

A few scattered pieces. A little light here and there. And over time, we try to make something of them.
