Behind the Single: 'heartbeat drops'

• This song's structure and vibe was inspired by a singer/songwriter by the name of Peter Yorn via a song called Different Roads. I used this tune as an arrangement and mix reference. Do a side by side and let me know what you think.
• My song's creative process developed around both Different Road's song textures and a Latin pop guitar rhythm that just sat right with me. I often start at the chorus center and build out slowly --- add/subtract and let the flower bloom like a spiral. It can be a slow-cooker process. You never know what structures and colors will arrive over time.
• My biggest challenge is the vocals. My vocal range is limited but my brain hears a melodic sweep that my vocal chords deny me. I keep trying despite this. It is fun : )
