David Husted Music: Before I Overthink Them (In-Between Songs)

Three Songs, One Decision

I’ve got a couple of unfinished songs sitting in front of me.
All close. None finished.

Lately I’ve been playing live—mostly cover tunes with friends.
It’s been good. Different energy.
But it’s shifted how I write—slower, more deliberate.

And this isn’t my full-time job.
So the time comes in pieces.
You learn to show up anyway.

Because here’s the thing—
there’s always something to fix.
Another vocal. A better line. A cleaner transition.

You can do that forever.

At some point, it stops being about improving the song
and starts being about avoiding letting it go.

And that’s the part that’s hard.

You hear the flaws.
You know where it could be better.

So now it’s simple—
keep sanding…
or leave it as a snapshot of where you are.

Either way, you make another one.

I was going to let these sit.

Didn’t.

I picked one.
“Dungarees.”

Couple weeks.
