One's Song's Journey

Episode 12: The Release

After you’ve sparked an idea, nurtured it into an arrangement, layered in instruments and vocals, and then spent hours shaping, balancing, mixing, and mastering it into something whole—you finally have a song you can celebrate.

But wait… you’re still not finished. Once the song exists, there’s the equally daunting (and often overlooked) journey of releasing it into the world. That means the endless checklist of platforms, artwork, promotion, and trying to find listeners who might stumble across your little universe of sound. This series isn’t about that grind—but trust me, it’s every bit as important as the creation itself.

Which brings me here, to share two videos with you. The first is the reference track that inspired me—a song by Post Malone called Chemical. The second is my own brand-new track, Eclipse by David Husted. I’m not pretending it stands shoulder to shoulder with Post Malone, but I am proud of what I pulled from thin air—inch by inch, idea by idea—until it stood up as its own living thing. That never stops being magic to me.

Thanks for being here and giving me your time. If you’ve made it this far, I encourage you to dive into the full article series linked below. It traces the cracks, the craft, and the crescendo of my songwriting process. You’ll see the struggles, the small wins, and maybe a bit of yourself reflected in the journey.

Cheers,
Dave
